The following message reached Davar Rishon via the Israeli Flying Aid organization, which maintains ongoing contact with parties in Syria. The message was composed by Sunni rebels who were evacuated from Al Zabadani as part of a population exchange agreement.
"We, the residents of Madaya, are stuck in the bus station in Ramouseh (a suburb of Aleppo where the central bus station is located – D.R.). We are being held on buses after we were forcibly expelled from Madaya, which is in the rural region outside Damascus, in order to travel to Idlib in Northern Syria. We condemn the attack which was carried out today in the Al-Rashidun region.
We call on the UN, the International Red Cross, and other relevant international organizations to ensure that we receive the necessary protection in order to reach our destination in Idlib.
We hold the signers of the Four Cities agreement fully responsible for our safety, especially in light of the rage directed towards us by the Shiite residents who surround us, as well as the by the Syrian regime's forces.
We emphasize that we have been awaiting evacuation for more than 15 hours, after an 18 hour journey, in extremely severe humanitarian conditions."
